Visit with Kathi and Dale

What a great way to spend my vacation with my cousin Kathi and her husband Dale. They arrived on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 5:00pm. We were both a little nervous since we had not seen each other for 23 years. We say each other and immediately we hung each other and started to cry. I meet Dale and the friendship started to grow.

We drove home and the conversation never stopped and that is how the whole week went. Carlie and Taylor were at home when we got home. Everyone was hungry so I dished up Lasagna, Garlic bread and tossed the salad together.

Monday morning I took them to Fountain Hills to the famous fountain. We walked around the park and meet a friendly gentleman who explained when the fountain would begin again. He asked us if we were sisters. That was another compliment. We noticed there is a game you could play around the park. It is Frisbee golf. We stopped and watched two men playing the game. The Frisbees were just like clubs different irons. The fountain started after we sat down and only went for a short time because there was a wind of greater than 10 knots. We also saw a horse made out of junk that was real neat to look at. There was an old singer sewing machine, master lock, faucet, silverware, bucket, old licence plates, wagon wheels, and tons more.

Then we driving to Cave Creek and we were all getting hungry. Kathi saw Jack in the Box. We stopped and had some greasy taco's. They do not have any more Jack in the Box's in Michigan. We were driving up Scottsdale Rd and stop so they could walk through the desert to get pictures of them standing my a Saguaro. Kathi was fascinated by the different color of rock she found.

When we arrived to Cave Creek we walked through a real junk store. This store had something for everyone. We walked around Cave Creek for a few hours.

Tuesday we spend the day with my father and Marge at his place in Sun City West. We all ate lunch and took a tour of the retirement center. We stopped at Trader Joes to pick up some wine. We found some very interesting wine. I bought one called Gypsy, and ?. They were both quite good. It was a nice day.

Wednesday we drove to Sedona, Jerome and the back roads to Prescott. In Sedona we stopped at the new visitor center and picked up some information. We went to see the Cathedral built by a women, and found the eagle rock in the red rock. The view is beautiful for the Cathedral. We walked around the upper part of the town. The weather was perfect. We drove to Jerome. The town has changed since I was last there. We walked up and down the hills and walked in and out of the shops. I took the back way to Prescott. The road is winding and covered with snow. It was beautiful. We arrived into Prescott and called my brother to see if we could stop by. He was not home so we drove by to Phoenix.

Thursday we took the new light rail down to see Taylor at ASU. The ride down was nice and almost empty. We meet up with Taylor and she took us to her ROTC detactment and introduced us to some of her ROTC friends. We went to In and Out Burger for lunch.

Friday was there last full day in Arizona. We played some games on the patio and drank some wine. Ron came home early that afternoon and the party began. Dennis and Rodney joined us for the evening. I made some appetizers, for dinner we had Prime Rib, and potatoes. We learned how to play Flip it, Farkel, and LRC. Ron turned on some Mexican music by Cumbia. The party ended early 10:30 because Kathi and Dale departed Saturday morning at 6:00am.

Saturday morning was real rough on all of us. We got up at 3:45 am and off to the airport we went at 4:15am. We said our sad good bye's....We all had a great time and will not be waiting another 20 years to see each other.
We already miss our converstion and Kathi's laugh.
